GRANTS AVAILABLE TO CONSUMERS

From time to time, Government grants are available to householders to assist with the purchase of energy saving equipment.  In the UK, these can be accessed through a local Energy Efficiency Advice Centre.

Warmfront (England)
Subject to approval, Warmfront grants can be used for various warmth related items, such as loft insulation, draught proofing, cavity-wall insulation, hot water tank insulation, energy efficiency light bulbs, gas, electric or oil central heating and glass fronted fires.

Home Energy Efficiency Scheme (HEES Wales)
The Home Energy Efficiency Scheme (HEES Wales) offers two levels of grant, HEES and HEES Plus.  Subject to approval and depending on what form of heating or insulation is in the property, grants can be used to make improvements to the property.

The Energy Assistance Package (Scotland)
The Energy Assistance Package, provided by the Scottish government, offers advice and support to help cut fuel bills and make homes warmer and more comfortable.  This includes energy efficiency advice and grants for installation of insulation measures and improvement of heating systems for those eligible.

Warm Homes Scheme (Northern Ireland)

The House Improvement and Energy Conservation Scheme 2005 and House Improvement and Energy Conservation (Amendment) 2006 (Isle of Man)
The Scheme was introduced as a means of offering financial assistance to owner-occupiers to carry vital repairs and improvements as well as improve the energy efficiency of their home including insulation measures and installation or replacement of heating systems.

Energy Providers
Many of the UK’s electricity suppliers offer grant schemes for insulation and products.  For more information, contact your energy supplier.

GRANTS AVAILABLE TO BUSINESSES

Grants available to businesses under current initiatives are limited.

The Carbon Trust provides advice on carbon savings and management for both small and large businesses - http://www.carbontrust.co.uk/default.ct.
